More about this scene
Pendleton nestles right in the shadow of Pendle Hill: in fact, the name means 'the houses on Pendle'. Owned for centuries by the Aspinall family, Pendleton was an old village when the Domesday Book was compiled. With its stream running down the middle of the village, Pendleton seems to present an idyllic picture.
