More about this scene

The village is more well-known for its much-visited stately home, Penshurst Place - its entrance arch can be seen at the bottom of the lane. However, it is delightfully attractive in its own right, as we can see from this view, which shows late 15th-century timber-framed buildings close by the church. The village stands at the confluence of the rivers Eden and Medway and was originally known as Penchester.
