Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

More about this scene

Penzance was 'a place of good business, well built and populous, having a good trade and a great many ships belonging to it', according to Daniel Defoe, when he visited in the 17th century. Today the ships are rather less numerous - the Isles of Scilly boat 'Scillonian' is the only vessel of any size to operate from the harbour.

A Recorder And A Rolls!
It was August 1955. School summer holidays and when they were over, it would be time for me to begin junior school back in my Midlands home town. My mother had been preparing for that big event, purchasing embroidered cloth school badges to sew onto a new blazer and matching cap. Queens Hotel
Opened in 1862 its closing and being converted to flats.

Place I Liked To Play When On Holiday
This is where our family went when we where on holiday. My father came from Penzance and my auntie lived in custom house lane. This has loads of memories for me. Always walk up there when we come down from Somerset.

Birthday Treat
My mum used to take me to Rhere for a Birthday Picnic every March 28th , when I was a small boy , so either the weather has changed or I'm as hardy as a Gypsy!

Genealogy & Research Images

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
