More about this scene

This photograph was taken from the junction of the High Street with Bridge Street. The dominant buildings are of the early 1900s, complete with a fine set of chimney stacks. To the right is a rather shabby jettied 16th-century pub, which, it must be said, has been repaired and redecorated in latter years. The remainder of the buildings have changed little, including an excellent early 18th-century brick-fronted house halfway up the hill.
