On the left of the picture is a poster advertising a sacred concert at the Bijou Theatre, one of a number of ways in which Victorian holidaymakers could celebrate their Christian faith. During the season, open-air services were held at Douglas Head, and of course there were the tremendously popular services at Kirk Braddan, some of which are said to have attracted congregations approaching 20,000 people.
