In the background is the Methodist Chapel, the third to be built in Porthleven. The foundations were laid on 8 June 1881, and the chapel was opened on 11 May 1883; it was built from granite, with Delabole and Bangor slate for the roof. The total cost was £3,700, and the architect was James Hicks of Redruth.
