More about this scene
Said to be the 'wealthiest parochial area' in Britain, Prestbury is now stockbroker country. The magpie building in the centre here is now the National Westminster Bank – when the photograph is enlarged, a sign is visible which reads 'District Bank'. It is known as the Priest's House, and was built in the 1580s by Thomas Legh. It became a bank in the 1920s.
