More about this scene
The town's main commercial institutions and shops occupied many of the elegant three-storey buildings along Fishergate. At the far end of the street, the impressive church-like building is actually the Town Hall, designed in the Gothic style by Sir George Gilbert Scott and completed in 1867. However, it no longer stands, having been demolished following a fire in 1947.
