Preston, Miller Park 1893

More about this scene
Alderman T Miller presented the land for the park (11 acres) in 1864. The park is overlooked by the Park Hotel, and is close to a main line railway (in those days the East Lancashire Railway) which ran between two parks. Miller Park is well laid out with flower beds and trees; Longridge stone was used in the fountain (left, by the balustrading). Shrubs abounded, and a grotto in the north corner complemented 'fantastic rock work traversed by a cascade'.
