1957 came to live with my parents at Prestwich travel agency (later the candy box) near Plaza cinema and st Mary's park. Was at Stand boys Whitefield (which I hated) used to go riding and helping at Dampiers stables Whitefield. I was about 13 then.
1960's Rob Lawson.. here. Hope high School - anybody there?
I was born in Hope hospital to Thomas and Emily White, and I lived initally near the Dog Track and then from around 1958 at 143 South Radford Street. I went to Kersal School and then to Broughton High School for Girls (even though it was at the top of Rainsough Brew and not in Brougton). I recall seeing a film in 1948 in the school hall of Heys Road Boys School of the '1936 Olympics'. This was to educate us in the theme of the Olympics (remember there had been an abandonment from 1936 until 1948 when they returned after hostilities to London. The 'Rowing Event' really interested me and I had plans (never realised) to be a Rower in the next Games. So off I went on my bicycle from ...see more
