Schoolboy Memories

A Memory of Pulborough.

As Pulborough lad of 1950's vintage I remember The Chequers well as Impasses it every day on my way to catch the train taking me and many others to School (The Weald)in Billings Hurst.
I also remember it burning Down in the mid Sixties.
I now live in Liverpool a city that I love, but I have told my family to scatter my ashes off The Bridge at Swan Corner.
My name is Kevin Mills and I lived at No6 Rectory Close as going to Primary school with Mr Winter a great headmaster who I owe so much to,my love of the English language and history.

We bought our house in Aston Rise in 1976. I was a member of the WI which met in the afternoons once a month. I worked with Joyce in Hennings in Lower street,
when it also had the delicatessen before changing to help at the Art gallery and picture framers. Our daughters went to the Weald school in Billingshurst. Made some lovely friends in Pulborough. I live in Normandy France now but will always have fond memories of that time.
