More about this scene

The village of Pyle is situated north of Porthcawl just off the M4 between Bridgend and Port Talbot. The church of St James built in the 15th century to replace the church of Old Kenfig, was restored in 1877, and the cost was met by voluntary contributions. Amongst other places of worship in the village, there is also a Calvinistic Methodist chapel, which was rebuilt in 1830 and enlarged in 1862. The population of Pyle in 1871 was 883.
