More about this scene
Rayne's original church was Norman. Prayers offered there were considered particularly beneficial to pregnant women. This striking brick tower was built c1510 for Sir William Capel. It is a masterly combination of blue-brick decoration, angular turrets and castellated friezes. The remainder of the church was fully rebuilt in 1840.
