Reading, Royal Berks Hospital 1896

More about this scene
Rightly one of Reading's best known buildings, the hospital looks more like a cross between the British Museum and an Oxford college. Built as a result of a vigorous campaign by a local citizen, Richard Oliver, and funded by public subscription on donated land, this great Ionic temple to health opened in May 1839.
