Reading, Royal Berkshire Hospital 1912

More about this scene
Although the 1839 hospital only consisted of the magnificent pedimented and columned centre block (on the left in this view) designed by local architect Henry Briant, it had expanded in similar stone wings by the 1880s. This view shows the grassed great court in front with its railings - they are now gone, and the forecourt is a car park.
