A Selection of Memories from Rednal

For many years now, we've been inviting visitors to our website to add their own memories to share their experiences of life as it was, prompted by the photographs in our archive. Here are some from Rednal

Sparked a Memory for you?

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

We moved to Ryde Park Road in 1950, I was Margaret Thompson then, my brother was Roger, his best friends were Alan Rainbow (Ashill Road) and Loyd Canty (Ashill Road). I went to Colmers Infants until Rednal Hill was built, then at 11 went to Colmers Seniors. Left in 1963. I remember it safe to play outside at 6 years old!! I got lost at that age and ended up knocking on someone's front door in Cliff Rock Road, unheard of now
I was brought up in a big old house, 226 Leach Green Lane. I have fond memories exploring the Lickey Hills at the back of my garden and also going into the Oritry grounds to see the six unmarked graves. Then of going into the church to see the statue of Mary, it's such a shame it has changed.
I was born in Meadvale Road, Rednal. Just read Roy Bevington's note, he is my cousin. My mom's maiden name was Rowley, I believe your mom was Ethel, do you remember me too? I went to Rednal Hill infant and junior, then Colmers Farm and left in1967. Is there anyone who remembers me from school?
I remember the old Lickey Hill; climbing those wooden steps then coming down trying to stop the old fair ground swing boats etc... Tuppence if you remember the old 62 bus turned round by the amusement. The old Challet dance hall; me and my brothers spent many adays there...fun times. We all lived in Harpers Road, Northfield but that's all changed now...oh well, we had our fun days.
