More about this scene
The tour now reaches the northern part of the county, perhaps the least visited part of Nottinghamshire. The largest towns are Worksop and East Retford – Worksop was covered in Chapter 4. East Retford has at its heart a market place, first chartered in 1246. The stalls are nowadays roofed in smart blue- and pink-banded awnings, and surround the war memorial, which was erected in 1921.
