A Memory of Rhymney.

Born in plantation street , went to the infants school and then wellington school and bedwellty grammar. Moved to nursery crescent and then to garden city . Loved those days just hanging out with friends , camping ,playing footie , couple of those friends passed away now but always remembered . Hello to anyone I knew and bothered with then hope you are well and living the dream , Rhymney isn’t the town we grew up in too many outsiders moved in by Caerphilly council ,but hey , born a Rhymney boy , die a Rhymney boy ,ha , ha . Dai lynch .

Yea , Howard , that was my mam and dad , both passed away back in 2002 . They lived next door to Nancy in Mountbatten .
Hi all. I do know the names but cant remember faces. i lived in Lombard house, plantation street and went to the infants school next door and then to the wellington. I moved to nursery cresent and played out and met others on the seat at the top of garden city each night. after buying chips from tivies. my cousins Nest and Gwyn Howells lived in 20 garden city. anybody remember me.
jane jones that was.
Hi Jane , we lived in 5 nursery crescent around 1968 after moving from plantation street no. 15 . My parents for some strange reason then moved us again to no. 4 garden city around 1971 . I don’t recall your cousins but they must have lived over by “ idris the laundry “ his surname was jones by the way . I too have been trying without luck to find any photos of the infants school and plantation street , also the Wellington school as well .
I lived in Lombard house plantation street from 1946 to about 1955 then in 9 Nursey cresent untill 1967. My mum and dad lived there untill 1988 and then my mum moved to the house she was born in 20 Garden city. lots in common i think.
Back in 1972 we took photos of lower infants school . It was falling down but still recognisable. I will look them out and send you them. That is all i have.
That would be great Jane thanks , isn’t it strange that our parents seemed to mirror the house moving , albeit at different times , plantation to nursery crescent and onto garden city . I have no doubt our parents would have known each other . I wish I had some photos of the Wellington school as well I remember being told it was the fourth oldest school in Wales at the time I was there , that’s the main reason it was knocked down and replaced with a new school only a couple of years later .
not sure how to send you the photos of school class the wellington and the infants school
do you have an email.. you might recognise some of the people there. jane
Hi Jane ,
My email address is staring you in the face , ha, ha. It’s ,Davelynch27@aol.com I’m looking forward to seeing the pictures , my brother also went to the same schools and is older than me so maybe he is on them . If I get anything of interest in relation to the streets we lived in you I will let you know . Thanks again . 😃
