On this sunny early afternoon Di Palma Cream Ices and Johnny's Creamy Ices compete for trade (centre), and people sit in the rose garden formed next to Trinity Church after the iron railings, visible in 82553 (pages 21-22), were sent for salvage during the Second World War. The No 25 Scorton bus waits in its bay; in those days metal barriers guided the bus queues.
