A Memory of Romford.

I would catch the 252 bus to Romford Markets on a Saturday morning, I was learning to play the piano and singing pop songs. There was a music stall there with single sheet music and books. I would buy the latest pop songs of Cilla Black, Sandie Shaw, Lulu and go home and play and sing them. I lived in Cross roads at number 66.
My Dad would take me Saturday night to the Royal United Services Club corner of Maw ey Road. I would sing with the Saturday night Band. I even won a talent competition there when I was 13 yrs old singing " Venus in blue jeans" a Bobby Vee song.
I went on to perform in musicals pkaying the lead at the Westcliff on sea Pavillion playing Laurie in "Oklahoma"
I emmigrated to Perth Australia in 1974 with my first husband and two children. I still continue to act and sing and also Direct. This year Directing two plays and playing the lead in "Blitz" the end if this year 2016
I shall never forget all the Pubs I sang in, in Romford and Hotels, and Resturants or Mrs Norton in Marlborough Road and Mrs Shields in Mawney Road my piano Teachers.
I went to Crownfields primary and junior school Whitehart lane, and Pettits lane secondary and Chasecross high.
Although I have lived in Australia for over 40 years, I still miss the "Old Romford" and have find memories of the place
