More about this scene
Runcorn grew rapidly in the early 1800s from a town in 1801 with a population of just under 1,500 to one with over 10,000 people only 30 years later. However, by the beginning of the 1960s, just before the act that designated the area as a new town, the population had only grown to over 26,000 people.
