A Small Snapshot.

A Memory of Rush Green.

I was born at Rush Green in 1948. I suppose my memories start when I attended Rush Green Infants, then Junior School. The only teachers I remember are Mr Snow, Mr Smith and Mr Bird the Headteacher. I used to walk to school with my friends and come home also on our own, how times have changed. I lived at Leonard Avenue which is quite near Central Park and spent many hours over there playing on the swings etc. I can also remember walking to 'The Chase' which was heaven to small children, water, bushes and also there was a riding school there. I then attended Tripton Girls School and left there 1964 (hated school). I used to walk there every morning about 2 miles away, and this took us over Nanny Goat Common. Most of my teenage years were spent in and around Dagenham/Romford/Ilford as my then boyfriend who became my husband lived at Henshawe Road.

My mum was also born in 1948 & went to Rush Green & Triptons schools. She was born in the house I now live in, in Dagenham Rd. She talks about all the places you speak off. Also getting lost in Central park in the peasouper fog & taking ages to get to school. I moved back here in the late 1990s & married one of the Gosling family from legon ave, some of them are your age - maybe you remember them. My mum is Marion Clarry
I lived at 15 Leonard Ave, moved there in 1960, I was 3
Had Mr Snow in juniors, left in 67-8 went to Triptons
Yes the name Gosling rings a bell and I believe there was a Marion in my class at Triptons, I remember Miss Brown, Miss Reeves, and of course Miss Budd. some of my classmates Linda Sims, Pat Whitmore, Margaret Daltry and I 'was' Jacqueline Sims, could we have been in the same class? One of my friends was Linda Crisp who I also walked to school with as well as Angela Payne, Linda lived at the top end of Leonard Avenue, I lived at 36.
Hi Jaqueline, I was at Rush Green school with you and Linda Crisp, Angela Payne, Rhys Lewis, Richard & Robert Thomas and Pat Westbrook, to name a few. My name was Jennifer Crawley. I went to Pettits Lnes Sec. Mod, afterwards. Are you in touch with any of the others? Would love to hear from you.
My brother is Rhys Lewis. I went to Rush Green primary schools though some years later than Rhys. Spent many happy hours playing over The Chase (with Gwen above).

I will have to ask my mum of she remembers any of the people you mentioned.
Hi, Jennifer Crawley, weren't we friends? Did you live in Fourth Avenue? Although from the names you remember we weren't in the same class. Pam Cohen
