Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

Cavendish St

A Memory of Salford.

I lived there just opposite St Clements Church. Ordsall park at the bottom of the road. Went to Ordsall board school then secondary modern school. Remember the ice cream cart pulled by horse. Bonfire in Archie st. Going to the pics Boro. Skating up and down Cavendish st. Whit walks. Tin baths, not many people had bathrooms. Toilet in the back yard. Stoning your window sill and step. Sadly all houses pulled down except the church, 60s . My name was Roberts then

I lived on Ordsall Lane until I was 6, the part called the Asphalt. I also went to Ordsall Board school from 1949 - 1952 I think. My teacher was Miss Hardisty. Went to the Boro and Dominian with my Gran. Was in the Whit Walks from the Salford Dock Mission. It was on New Park Rd opposite the Park. I can't find any record of it now. I still visited and stayed there at my Gran's. until she died in 1960. The Bonfires were held in Gurner St. for us and I remember a rocket going into someones house, they had left the door open. I was born in Gurner st, 1944 went to Ordsal board,and then Traford secondary modern, we carry things over from one school to the other when it opened..used to play in the school yard almost facing the dock gates.I saw King kong at the Boro.also walked in the Whi t walks with Dock mission, my mum and Dad make the coronation decoration 1954 and I got to wind up the record player Trulley truley fair was my favorite record. The asphalt was back doors to Gurner street, and I believe faced Howarths mill.Whatched cowboy movies on Saturday at .I remember dancing at the Cad over Burton's on Regent road.
