Memories Of Salford 7

A Memory of Salford.

I was born in Hope Hospital in 1946 and lived at number 2 Arm Street, Salford 7. I went to Grecian Street school and every Sat. me and my friends used to go to the Tower picture house - it was 6p to get in and 3p for an Orange Maid lolly. After that we would all go to Albert Park to play on the swings. As a treat my dad would take me and my mum to the Priary pub, I loved it there. Oh happy days.....

I was born in Hope Hospital in June 1940, we lived for a short time on Auckland St off Whit Lane, then moved to 26, Lichfield St off Cromwell Rd,my surname is McCance, dads name was Thomas, mums was Worsley which was quite a large family,My dads family came from Park Place, just off Cross Lane opposite was the old cattle market. My dad had three brothers,Arthur, Hughie,& Alec, and a sister Edna.I went to a nursery school on Auckland St and got my front tooth knocked out on a sea saw (.my goodness the things that stick in your mind) we left Salford in 1947 and moved to Baguley, Timperley.unfortunately my Dad was killed in an accident driving a lorry on the East Lands Rd at Knowsley on 9th Dec 1949.ime not to sure if there are relations to Worsley or Smith still in the Salford area or not, I know on my mums side of the family she had 3 brothers & 3 sisters
