Burnt House Farm

A Memory of Sandhurst.

I was born in Burnt House Farm, Sandhurst Kent in 1956, I lived there with
my parents and brother, who started at the village primary school in 1956. My father farmed at Burnt House Farm for about 5 years prior to us moving in 1959, just after my sister was born at the private nursing home in Hawkhurst.  If anyone remembers my mother and father, the Pickerings, or if the present owners of the farm read this, I would love to be able to visit the farm and house and just see where I was born. I was told it is a 13th-century house with exposed beams and there was the original brick flooring in the kitchen and probabley an inglenook fireplace in the sitting room. I would love to hear from anyone who can help me on my visit of my birthplace.

I bought Burnt Farmhouse in February this year (2017) having been recently widowed. I fell in love with it and the old house welcomed me with open arms. My toddler granddaughter loves fingering the old beams and ancient bricks - it has such a happy atmosphere. I know nothing of its history. If you know more, do please get in touch!
My grandmother lived here and my mother remembered it she always said there was a secret passage or wardrobe this would have been before the 2nd world war grandmother Kate overing married godfrey Pope then moved to quince cottage in sandhurst
My name is Robert Munn (7/3/1950). I grew up in The Stores, Lower Green, run by my parents Hugh and Hazel, with my sister Carol (17/1/1947) and went to the Primary School.
The Pickering’s were customers, and Sheila Pickering was one Mum’s friends.
The house was bought by the actor Donald Houston who was there for several years.
