More about this scene

This view shows Front Beach and Railway Street, now the Strand. In the foreground is Craig-y-Mor or Rock Villa. The small building in the garden was originally a boathouse. Just beyond the house, at the furthest east end of the street, is the railway tunnel that connects Saundersfoot with Coppet Hall. Properties on the seaward side are almost unique in Britain, as they front onto the beach without a road between.

Gift Shops In The Strand 1970s
I spent every Summer in Saundersfoot from the age of 6 to 15! My Uncle owned the garage at the bottom of the arches in Tenby, and I had great fun exploring. I am trying to remember the name of a lovely little gift shop in The Strand, that no longer exists... think it began with a D..? It was on the right around a third of the way up. Cinema
The only South Beach I can think of, is in Tenby, there was a cinema there on the South beach, in which you had to walk on an elevated tunnel to reach the doors. Don't know when it was demolished, because I moved out of the area in 1965, hope this was some help.

Happy Childhood Holidays
When I was a child, my grandparents had a static caravan on the 'Zealand' caravan park in Saundersfoot (now part of Scar Farm). We stayed there every school holiday and I have many lovely memories; many include a bag of chips and the steep walk up the hill beside the Hean Castle Pub. Saundersfoot feels like home to me and I hope to live there one day. It's lovely to see how it looked so many years ago.

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
