More about this scene
This is the south quay of the harbour. The harbour was built between 1829 and 1834 from local and imported stone. When Bonville's Court Colliery opened, the harbour was used for exporting coal; between 1912 and 1926 the colliery produced more than 35,000 tonnes of anthracite annually. On the harbour is a steam crane that provided assistance for unloading cargo, operated for many years by Ben Lewis.
