More about this scene
In 1823, Scarborough was home to no fewer than 59 master mariners and 56 registered ship owners. There were six ship builders and one boat builder. Local vessels such as the 'Aid', 'Moscow', 'Trimmer', 'Fallowden', 'Commerce', and the 'Free Briton' ran to London, Hull or Newcastle, though some of the services were not regular.
