More about this scene
The sheer volume of boats in the South Bay is amazing. Most of them appear to be cobles, a traditional Yorkshire open boat easily identified by the square transom which has a reverse slope. Only a small number remain today, now relying on the internal combustion engine for power, rather than the wind.
