More about this scene

Mid-way between Chailey and Haywards Heath is Scaynes Hill, and this photograph shows the summit of the hill. Though there is still a pub here, it is now called the Farmers. Opposite it there is now a large petrol station, as well as a road junction that leads onto the Common. The village is certainly on a hill, and at the foot of the hill is a small vineyard, as well as a thriving family-owned garden centre. These are just two examples of the many varied businesses that are established in and around Scaynes Hill.

A Selection of Memories from Scayne's Hill

For many years now, we've been inviting visitors to our website to add their own memories to share their experiences of life as it was, prompted by the photographs in our archive. Here are some from Scayne's Hill

Sparked a Memory for you?

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

Spent many happy days as a small boy living at the "Butterbox" a wondeful place to live and explore, went to school in the village and used to spend a sixpence every Friday in the sweet shop
