Memories of Seaham


THE MEN WOULD BRING THE BOATS IN AND HANG BUNCHES OF CRABS AND FISH ON THE RAIL SO WE COULD CHOOSE OUR OWN.

I remember working on the old steam engine known as the 'coffee pot' on the dock bottom with Matty Ward and Dempsey Thyne I would like to know if either person is still with us. If anyone knows EMAIL me on diggerveg@hotmail.co.uk Thank You.

All my family come from Murton, some are still there. I remember as a child going to the harbour and getting fresh crabs - they were big ones, and once one grabbed my granda`s coat and we had to free him as the claws were big too. When Seaham Hall was used as a T B hospital this extension was built at the side, we used to walk through the hall grounds on our way to the beach from New Seaham and the French Windows were always open and the beds wheeled outside even in the winter, we always felt quite sorry for the patients.
