Just a few yards up the hill from All Saints' Church, Barn Hill is a far cry from the commercial bustle of Red Lion Square.

A mile to the north of the stadium, Barn Hill takes about itself an air of rural contemplation as the camera looks out to the surrounding hills.

The Estate Office was built in 1925, and was originally known as Barn Hall.
On the right is The Dunes, built in 1914 as a guesthouse, and on the left is Barn Hall, later the Estate Office, built in 1925. Between the buildings is the Meare.
Lodge Hill was then a bare hill, but the Baron imported vast numbers of mature trees to give it its present wooded character; teams of horses toiled from far and wide to haul the trees to their destination
