Resident Constable (William Thomas Roberts) Shadwell.

A Memory of Shadwell.

My Grandfather William Thomas Roberts, was the Resident Constable in Shadwell from 1928 till about 1931/37 (He Retired from Leeds City Police Force in 1937 not sure if he was Resident Constable until he retired). He lived with his wife Annie and their Children (Frederick George being my Father) in the Police House. Main Street. Shadwell just opposite the School. Apparently the Police House had its own little Jail.
I think the other Children were called Gordon L and Alice M but i'm not sure. I do know the youngest Daughter, Elizabeth Irene died in 1929 when she was 2 years old, and is buried along with her Mother Annie (who died in 1935) in St. Pauls, Shadwell, Cemetery.
I think my Grandfather is also buried in the same Grave, but his name is not on the Headstone (He died in 1940 in York County Hospital, but the records show he is buried in Shadwell).
My Father along with his siblings would of attended the local school in Shadwell but I have no other information regarding this.
I would appreciate any Memories anyone may have of my Grandfather and the Family.

Fred Roberts (Grandson).
