No, I don't remember back to 1881, but my great-grandfather was born and lived in Gents Lane, Shimpling. My grandmother and her sisters attended the village school too! I would be interested to know if anyone remembers the Campan family or their neighbours the Cobbold family.
We have had many happy visits to Shimpling over the years, loving the peace and tranquility, a true step back in time.
I live in Shimpling in Suffolk near Bury St Edmunds (not Shimpling in Norfolk) and would like to hear from anyone who has memories of the village. I am compiling a catalogue of historic recollections that will disappear if not recorded.
