Rosberry House

A Memory of Skegness.

Me and my 3 sisters went here , late 70s early 80 can’t remember exactly, what I do remember was how we had to share baths and be checked for head lice , they wrote with black marker on our underwear , a colour and number , even while we was wearing them ,one of my sisters was next to me on the bottom bunk and her top bunk partner stole her pillar and I remember talking , asking my sister what’s wrong , the girl named Rita pretended she was asleep , a light shone , it was miss kilick , she took us both out of bed to the corner of our room and made us bend over to hit us with a trainer .., I also remember we went to a beach it was high up no one else there , also we played games for given animal names , ape beetle cat dog elephant mouse ... I never got over the smack for years as we was already from a very abusive home , I remember going to church being given a good news bible and a glass bottle of coke , we had pocket money for tuck shop

My parents died when l was very young, myself my brother and sister were adopted and we went to Roseberry house in 1980. it was too soon for us to of gone l think, l cried every day! The only good part was at night we were in dormitories with bunk beds, where a lady sat in the middle and read us AMELIA JANE the naughty doll. i'll never forget her, she looked like mama Cass of the Mamas and Papas and rode a motorbike!! It was the worst experience of my life, and never went again...
