Skegness, From The Pier 1910

More about this scene
Skegness was very much developed with day trips and excursions in mind, utilising the railway, with influxes from the Midlands, particularly Nottingham. Here we see the funfair actually on the sands above the high water mark, including a helter-skelter tower. It was not until 1921, when the council bought the sea -front and foreshore from the Earl, that the town assumed its brasher kiss-me-quick character.
