More about this scene

Caption for South Benfleet, The Parade C1955: These days Hopes Green is simply a westward extension of South Benfleet, but it started life as a hamlet of fishermen's cottages. In fact, a navigable creek once brought boats right up to where we are standing (near the entrance to the playing fields). What would the fishermen have made of shops such as Dressywear (left)?

Memories of South Benfleet, the Parade c1955

This looks very much like Hopes Green Parade to me. On the left, next to Burnetts the Chemist, there was a hairdresser's shop which looked as if it were stuck in a 1930's time-warp. It was there until about the 1970's.
