Southport, Floral Hall Colonnade c.1955

More about this scene
The Floral Hall and Theatre complex continue to provide a conference and concert centre of national importance. The years have treated the buildings kindly, and a major refurbishment at the turn of the century ensures their continuing popularity. Our picture provides no surprises in the context of 2004 - although a visitor should not expect to see the ladies in the audience wearing hats. Some of the garden area nearest to the camera has undergone modification as part of the very large project involving the building of the new Marine Parade Bridge.
