Old Family

A Memory of Southwater.

My Grandfather was Frank Swabey, who lived at POND FARM SOUTHWATER . He ran his COAL business and Cattle/Live stock haulage company from there. It is now A housing estate with no sign of any of the old businesses.

My Sister and I had many days of fun running around the gardens and yard, when I got older going out with my Uncle David who also lived in Southwater in his, Cattle lorry around the Farms. I had an Uncle Felix and an Uncle Albert they also lived in Southwater .Frank Grandad and Grandmother Annie brought up a large family of 9. My Farther Richard (Dick) mother Angela my Sister and I lived in Itchingfield at Muntham farm. right next to THE BIG HOUSE . THAT WAS A boys School. Diana and I went to Itchingfield primary school, that was near Christ hospital school, we used to lean over the fence and Laugh at the Christ hospital Boys in their funny uniforms, Yellow knee length Socks, knee length Breeks, and what looked like to us a Monks coat . The family have been farming in Devon for 40 years now, But still remember our HOME County.
