Spalding, High Bridge c.1960

More about this scene
Spalding's townscape is 'made' by the River Welland, which bisects the town. There are roads along each bank and houses face the river, giving it a slightly Dutch feel. Indeed, there are some fine Georgian houses, particularly on the east side near the good parish church. Here we look towards High Bridge of 1838. Berrills and the buildings beyond have been demolished to make way for road improvements and a riverside walk.
