More about this scene
This corner of Fairhaven Lake provides a quirky aside to the larger statement made by the leisure facilities in the gardens proper. The uniforms worn by the soldiers show that they are wounded veterans recovering at one of the many temporary hospitals and convalescent homes made available during the Great War.
