St Neots, River Terrace c.1955

More about this scene
During the floods of 1947, the River Ouse rose over the gardens of the twelve houses in River Terrace and drenched the ground floors. By 1955, everything appears to have settled down, and pleasure craft and punts are using the boat yards, landing stages, riverside cafes and the garden to the Old Falcon Inn (left). Even Brierley`s boatyard on the corner of the Hen Brook (right) is back in business. During the 1990s, River Terrace was demolished, and a new complex of houses and flats fills the area between the River and Brook Street.
