More about this scene
The Museum of the Broads is now housed in the brick building with decorative arches alongside the staithe. It was formerly the Excise House, built in 1812, for customs officers to inspect imported goods arriving by wherry from Yarmouth. The centre arch with a door has been removed, leaving no trace on the outside brickwork, but it can be clearly seen inside the building.
