Stamford, Broad Street 1922

More about this scene
The building on the left, with the large window facing the street, is the Corn Exchange, then acting as a cinema — we see it as it was before the alterations that were made following a 1925 fire. The horse and cart are standing outside the showrooms and warehouse of the local engineering firm of Blackstone & Co. This building too became a cinema before being destroyed by fire in 1937. The scar left by its demolition can be seen in AF54982 on page 9. Over the street stands Browne's Hospital.
