A Memory of Stanhope.

I went to Stanhope castle from 1975 to 1977. I do understand that there was a lot of physical abuse that happened. It happened to me too. I am trying to get to the truth about Stanhope castle.

a lot has been covered up which I am trying to uncover. Doing this I am never going to give up I am fighting for the truth no matter how long it takes I will keep searching until I get it.


This is what I have got up to now. I know that Stanhope castle closed in 1981, but two years earlier in 1979 a number of new intake of staff, yes I said staff at Stanhope castle they made a complaint about the level of abuse that was going on. In 1979 I need to know why there was not an investigation and the accused staff who I know who they are were not questioned by Durham constabulary. why was this not investigated. It took a further 2 years until Stanhope castle closed.
I know the reason why it closed because changes were not made which tells me the abusers continued to abuse after 1979 for another 2 years the complaints made no difference. Cleveland county council who were responsible for Stanhope castle kept quiet about the complaints and let the abuse happen. If anyone was there in 1979 even 1981 I be very grateful for any information you know about. I know who the abusers were and I know the true reason why Stanhope castle closed I need to know what happened in 1979 with the Complaints.
