Nostalgic memories of Stanhope's local history

Share your own memories of Stanhope and read what others have said

For many years now, we've been inviting visitors to our web site to add their own memories to share their experiences of life as it was when the photographs in our archive were taken. From brief one-liners explaining a little bit more about the image depicted, to great, in-depth accounts of a childhood when things were rather different than today (and everything inbetween!). We've had many contributors recognising themselves or loved ones in our photographs.

Why not add your memory today and become part of our Memories Community to help others in the future delve back into their past.

Walter was at Stanhope Castle until 1953, does anyone have a memory of him? I am assisting him with his life story.

I went down the super car track at the back of the wash house. I've lit cigs off the boiler house on the little yard.
There is a new group open on facebook, come and meet up on there too. the Castle School, Stanhope.
A lot of cover ups were made, there is a 75 year closure on files from Stanhope, no lads will get to see their files for 75 years.
Lets have another reunion, get more lads there.
Planning a bit of a reunion (to meet up) for ex 'castle boys' on Sunday 12th August, 11am in the Market Square car park. Anyone welcome, hope to see plenty of lads there.
Hi, does anyone know two brothers named Arthur and Alan Chadwick. Alan had ginger hair and was a little older, they were at the castle - Arthur left about mid 60s, Alan earley on . They are my older brothers, sadly Arthur passed away just over a year ago, I think Arthur's nickname was Chad. They bothed live at Houghton Le Spring.
