More about this scene

Stokesay Castle has to be one of the most romantic medieval sites in the country. It has a bad defensive position for a castle, though, so that when it was attacked during the Civil War the defenders wisely abandoned it and took refuge in the church instead. As a result it fortunately survived the war.
