More about this scene

Looking northwards, we can see a good selection of 18th- century architecture; perhaps the most attractive is St Edward's House (next to the three-storey hotel) with Corinthian-topped fluted pilasters. A fine selection of cars show the predominance of modern compact styling and the demise of running boards. Four clergymen are disembarking from the sensible little Standard Eight.

A Selection of Memories from Stow-on-the-Wold

For many years now, we've been inviting visitors to our website to add their own memories to share their experiences of life as it was, prompted by the photographs in our archive. Here are some from Stow-on-the-Wold

Sparked a Memory for you?

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

My relatives lived in Stow in the 1600's. George Churm married Anne Spurrior on the 29 Sept 1695 at Stow Church. George's father, George, was born at Stow in 1630; his father Lawrence was born in 1600 and married Anne(?) at Stow Church in 1620. Please contact me if you have any further info into the Churm, Spurrior ,Lawrence , Cairn or Webb families of Stow or Wyck Rissington.
