I wonder if anyone has an old photo of the pub called The Parson & Clerk before it became a Toby Carvery? I have tried the company but was just too late as they have refurbished it recently and none of the old photos remain. My Mother was born there in 1915 when her parents, Robert & Dolly Wright were either Landlords or owners, I don't know which. Anything that could go in the family records ...see more

I lived opposite Streetly Riding School, at 23, Manor Road from 1955 until 1969. I spent most of my spare time at the Riding School, I kept my horse at home but used the indoor school, took rides out and have been ever indebted to Colonel Leech for his help and support for all those years. I remember going to Streetly Riding School in Manor Road which was opposite the Buccaneer pub. We had some lovely times there, some of the girls names I remember are; Janice Sturgess, Barbara Cattel and a lovely girl called Carol Hamp who was a groom there, she taught me all I needed to know about looking after horses. Lovely to see the old pictures of the village, they almost made me cry. Does anyone remember some of the old shops and their owners? Ted Shelley in the newsagents where I went with my pocket money to buy my weekly comic, also a very spooky antique shop run by the equally antique couple who used to scare me silly as a young girl.
