St Peter's Church is now redundant. The statue of Thomas Gainsborough, the artist, was erected in front of the tower in 1913. On the left is the Bank of 1903, with columns between the windows and circular fanlights. Amongst all the national chain stores on the left are E W King's high-class grocer's and F W Page's ironmonger's. The market is held here on Saturdays.

Stepped off the train at Sudbury Station accompanied by my then boyfriend, who came from Monks Eleigh. We went to get the bus from the Market Hill. It was a Rules Coach.
